Three hikers have disappeared within approximately two weeks.
All were last seen in the vicinity of Blackwood Reservoir.
The most recent campsite showed signs of a large animal nearby, but little evidence of a struggle.
Local police have questioned former park ranger Ewan Sharpe.
Wildlife authorities deny that wolves, bears, or other large predators are established in the area.
Searches have so far recovered no bodies.
